Injen Install Help ! Looking for rubber piece that fits air sensor into injen midpipe

Hey,

Im trying to find the correct little rubber piece off the stock airbox or resonator to help the air sensor fit snug in the injen midpipe hole provided for it.

What does the little rubber piece look like that is supposed to go in that space to make the air sensor insert in the whole tight.

I have taken 2 pieces off of the (1) stock airbox and a similar looking piece off (1) stock resonator. they are small rubber looking pieces. I have fitted each one on the air sensor and inserted in the hole made for it and neither fit very tight. they fit but just not snug or real tight!

Okay, can someone let me know if it is supposed to be kinda loose fitting or is it supposed to be really snug and airtight. I can supply a picture if someone really needs it ( off what im using ).

And of course if someone can supply me with a picture to verify if the rubber piece looks the same. On both the parts i tried they both had a metal piece within it that i took out because the air sensor wouldnt fit through it. Both pieces i have tried are small black rubber pieces less than an inch long. on each end it comes out like a spool.

Meantime I will go back to the directions to see if there is anything in there. Im bad about not reading and even worse at mechanic stuff.

it should be VERY snug and air tight, if it wasn't there would be a leak and that would be no good, when its real tight, does it seem like its TOO tight like its going to break the sensor?

i will , and it is not tight at all , i had tape on it to seal it up while i road around trying to find old parts, then i found the stock resonator box and the air box.

the stock air box had lots of little rubber like pieces that looked like it could be used, so i snagged one, put it on and twisted up in there and its doing the job , but just isnt snug/tight like i would have thought. so then i posted and then i got smart and started looking at the directions.

according to the picture it looks like the grommet fits on the midpipe nice and tight and then you plug in the air sensor.

the piece i found actually had some metal in it, so i pulled it out and stuck the air sensor in it. that fit pretty good and tight. but once i tried to put into the midpipe it went in and just sagged .. so i then worked with it and twisted it around and it was tighter but not like i thought it should be... im working on getting the picture up.

Are you talking about the rubber piece that fits inside the stock resonator opening that makes for a tighter fit when pushing the MAF in? I'm missing this piece on mine. I used black electrical tape to build up the MAF until it fit snug. No leaks.

its the air sensor

in the injen midpipe there is a whole cut out for the air sensor to stick into it. i have had all this stock stuff of the car so long i wouldnt doubt it if im missing pieces. but it says i need the stock grommet ?

which appears to be a rubber looking thing that inserts into the midpipe and then the air sensor fits snug into it.

I looked the stock intake over, on mine i only have a plastic pipe thing coming out, there is no way to take that off .

anyways when i get back home i will post a picture of the piece I found.

I was way off. I think I remember which piece you talking about though. It acts like a gasket to make the air temp sensor air-tight, right?

hmm sorry to hear things didn't came out as expected. I have taken a few pics so you can see what I did. The shape of my air temp sensor was also different than the one on the intake. Putting it in the whole was not a good idea because it was a little bit not tight enough. Any way I just put very little black silicon on top of the sensor where it meets with the outside part of the intake and let it sit for a few minutes. As you can see on my pics this took care of the fitting issues

By some "GOOP" from Home Depot. That is by far the best silcone glue on the market. Easy clean up, drys completely clear, looks neat, and is only $3 a tube. I used it to glue in my air temps sensor in my CAI pipe. If you want to remove it, use a razor blade. The trick is you need to let the glue sit overnight.

that sounds good. i was wrong in the pictures, the rubber piece i used is actually inside the midpipe and that part is part of the air sensor the arrow is pointing at

. so glue that part(air sensor) onto the midpipe with a thin layer of goop ?

Yeah, I just made a small bead of Goop around the opening on the CAI pipe and installed the air temp sensor. I then secured the sensor to the pipe with some tape and let it sit for about 8 hours. I took the tape off and everything was great.

Yep, that piece should have been on your stock air intake.
