Use the one on the stock air box. It should work just fine.

Sounds nice but I thought it's supposed to sound louder than other intakes. I have your frankencar videos and they sound alike. One thing though, your exhaust sounds awful in the frankencar videos. In frankencaroutside just as you pass the camera it gets really nasty...

agreed, the exhaust sounds so bad thats me driving like a bat out of hell trying to get away from it .. it did not seem as bad in these and i dont know why.. not saying its great ..ive never actually liked the exhaust sound, i just kinda gave up messing with it.

the injen on the other hand is much like the frankencar, but i believe it gives off a more raw sound. they both sound the same/close.

if i had to choose i would go with injen on sound and looks with my car, and i certainly have nothing bad to say about the frankencar midpipe, excellent, just time to move on and try new things. i plan to try a true cai for the summer months but thats a long ways from now. i have felt the intake several times ( the piping ) and its getting warm, well lets say hot if you drive long enough.

I have no idea how this will effect the air making its way through the piping? just dont know.

at present time i have found i need some goop to complete the install, and then i will be hitting the track. i dont expect much of a change as for as et/mph are concerned but i have to at least check it out.

the engine bay will certainly look better .. if any of you are watching what dave b has been doing with his true cai, im almost willing to bet that setup is better than this one,but you never know until you try.

if the true cai piping is totally cool, and grabbing cool air completely out of the engine bay area ..i dont see how that could go wrong ..
again keep in mind i know very little about this stuff and get set straight about things all the time at the org ..

We need a hood, like the evo8 hood, with the mesh vents so that the hot air can escape. Also are you running a stock muffler or something else???

i dont really have an opinion just yet. im going to wait until track day until i get on it which is next week. i prefer the injen at this point, but i wonder about the piping getting hot, and if that will matter.

Looks:
Injen

Sound:

For me Injen by a nose ! Both are very much the same on my 4th Gen. but the injen intake sound seems to come out the bottom of the car, and gives a higher tone (@ high rpms) mixing with my exhaust which is loud.

I think the midpipe is enclosed in the engine bay and gets toned down alot, but the driver gets an earful of the frankencar or just a popcharger setup versus the injen intake. Now if you have an aftermarket exhaust i believe that overpowers the intakes. Its been the case with me. Someone with just an injen or frankencar intake on their 4th gen with no aftermarket exhaust may be experiencing something totally different than me.

At HIGH rpms the Injen screams out, otherwise you would never know its there, same is true with Frankencar. Both crank it up at WOT !

With the frankencar i noticed a little sucking sound like a mini turbo or something, not sure how to describe it but the injen is doing the same thing.

I like them both but would choose Injen out of the two. I still havent forgotten i got 14.63 in the 1/4 mile with the frankencar installed.

I believe its going to be personal preference with these two !
Performance NA: going to track soon !

if you let your car sit for a while the pipe does get Hot. But when you come from a long drive or a highway drive you should feel it. It only feels warm which its normal for being inside your engine compartment. The cooler air from the buttom of the engine compartment helps cool down the pipe when your car is moving.

wrap the intake piping with heat wrap...., it never hurts. also take your headers heat shield, and wrap your headers up, then put the shield back on. having a cooler engine bay NEVER hurts

dude in the one vid looks like theres a horse comin out to get you! lol sounds real good man, maybe you should consider the heat wrap like suggested above. also i was wondering in ur first vid's u seem to chirp into second, and in the ones with the injen i dont hear any chirping, have u changed ur shift technique? or do u have better tires on there now?

Yep, the verdict still isn't out on the intake I'm running. I ran last weekend at a different track and I ran horribly. My best was a 14.70@96mph with a horrible 2.29 60' and no traction thru 1st. The car feels much stronger, especially down low, but who knows. I plan on going to my regular track sometime next week assuming the weather is good.

Uhm, what? It would take 4hrs+ to take off the headers and for what purpose? Do we even have header heat shields???
