How do you get the radio dash trim off?

1. Pop off the trim around the shifter and disconnect the lighter.
2.Take out the ashtray, I dont remember if it has a screw or not, if so, mine's been gone a long time. Unplug the ashtray light. This pops out way easier if its open.
3. Remove 2 screws at the bottom of the radio trim.
4. Remove the center AC vent piece by prying it out from the sides.
5. Remove 2 screws at the top of the radio assembly.
6. Lift out the radio assembly, unplugging everything as required. There are 2 screws that hold the trim around the radio.
That's all.

I am looking at some wood dash kits for my GLE (to make everything wood) and have a problem. If I put the wood pieces over my wood trim right now (or so I am told) I will be able to see a little part of the existing wood around it. This wouldn't look too good. So I am wondering if it would be hard to swap my wood on my dash and window pieces for the black plastic stuff. Then I could put a wood dash on. You just described how to get the dash piece off. What about the window pieces? Thanks.

It appears to me that you might want to swap your wood trim pieces for black ones. It should be an easy process. I currently have a 96 Maxima GXE with black interior trim and plan to upgrade it to factory wood. How about if we do a trade for the trim parts? Please check your E-Mail.
