Open them up and paint them from the inside. If you get enough coats on, they should make the inner taillights.

it was me , another 15 to ship them

so all i need to do is open them from the inside , how do i separate them , just put them in the oven?

wat temperature? for how long? then wat just pull?

so i wouldnt need to separate the inners as well, just paint the all clear side n it should match?

sorry for the delay response i dont know why but i havent recieved an email notification that anyone replied to this thread

probably cuz the clears are rare, he didn't have time, or he moved on from maximas. he did a decent amount of them but it was side work and probably didn't have time to keep doing them.

I painted clears with Vans. Check out my page for pics. Plus I put up two pages of pics and instructions on how I did it.

Painting Clears

Check it out. I'd be happy to answer any questions.

Cheers,

That's it. If you can get them apart to paint the inside, I'd like to know how. I tried everything short of breaking them. No luck. Then I painted a small part of the corner and realized, they'll look fine painted on the outside. I've had them on for more than a year. No chips and they still look great.

200 for about 10 mins. take them out, carefully pry them and if they dont come loose easily, bake it some more. make sure that your oven heats up to 200 before putting them in. Be careful with the amount of force you pry them with too much eill crack them

Can anyone verify that the oven thing works for the 95-96 tails? I've read of this with clearing 97-99 tails, but never heard of anyone separating the 95-96's in the oven. Better search around before you wreck your tails.

David stopped making them because everytime he did.. someone b!tched and moaned about something *cough* Craig mack *cough*.. and the effort to make them was not worth the time..

Don't paint the out side of hte lens.. the will eventually fade

Dont separate the 95-96 lenses. All you really need to do is get Red krylon stained glass paint, mask the part you want white, clean thoroughly, and spray two light coats.

Painting the outside will dull, like mine are, especially if you hand wash your car a lot.

Has anyone tried the transparent vinyl on the outside of all clears? I think it would look good, but probly not hold up as good as paintng the inside.

Also I put side markers in the oven at 250 for 15 mins and that melted the lenses. But it worked on my 96 headlights.

I painted my signal lights on my integra amber, and they still look pretty good. Its been a year already.

*shrug*

Using several light coats has its benefits.

how about you ladies buck up for a HEAT GUN.

the oven might work..but you run a higher risk of cracking them or melting them before you get the lense apart.

i personally did a set for someone local...it came out perfect and he was extremely happy about it.

95 and 96 tailight do not have removable inserts like the 97-99. the amber is actually part of the outter lense.

I painted outside. 6 coats Vans, something like the same in clear coat. No fade and I've had them more than a year. see the pics above.

Sprint - have you done the mod or you just voiceing an uninformed opinion?

I was about to say the same thing. Put on like 6-10 layers of clear coat after the red paint and it should be ok.

That is your answer. There is no way to open up and replace the amber lens on the 95-96. The question in this thread is can you open clear/clears and paint the inside red. Or do you need to paint the inside. I'm of the opinion that you don't based on painting the outside of my own more than a year ago and them still looking fine.

well....to make clear/clears someone had to have done something with the amber part right? what did they do? i know everyone is getting fed up on how to make red/clears for 95-96s....but if everyone just posts up what they know and how to make it, i'm sure we could put everyones knowledge together and make a good/detailed instruction on how to make these stupid tail lights.

Damn, y'all need to take a dip in the pool and relax. For 1, you cannot make red/clears using stock lenses, the amber part is not removable I've tried. and 2 to make red/clears, you need to have all clears from somewhere, eg. ebay. Finally its not that hard to open the haousing, 10 mins @ 200.

Looked for a wise-a$$ smiley and couldn't resist. Seriously, the "do it right the first time" statement got me. Like I somehow did it the wrong way. Fade due to what? Weather? 6 coats of clear coat takes care of that. Light? Well, the light is the same weather painted on the outside or inside. I chimed in based on what I did and I've never had a problem.

Cheers,

Mark
