Help!! Clutch Slipping!? only 9 months old?!

Hi everyone, well last night was the first time I ran my car more than once racing. (I dont race at all basically even though my name says otherwise) My friends and I went to a deserted area (IA, everywhere is cornfields and deserted) and we wanted to practice for the track we were going to on Sunday. We'll after acouple of hard launches and 1 20mph punch everything was ok. The next 20mph punch 1st,2nd gear were ok, after shifting to 3rd gear, after 3k rpm I had the car floored and the rpms just shot right up really quick and the car accelerated very slow as if I was in neutral with very little acceleration. Does anyone know what that means? Clutch slipping? The clutch is supposedly only 9months old(bought the car used and salesman said put a new clutch in). Also on the drive home the same thing kept happening in 3rd,4th,and 5th gear, rpms just shot up when hit I hit 3krpm and the car accelerated very very slow. But after we stopped by hyvee and i went back to the car, i tried to shift in 3rd,4th past 3k rpm and everything was fine. But I didn't shift like I was racing, just regular shifting but I went past 3krpm to 5krpm and everything was fine in those gears. Wierd. I'm pretty positive when I try to race shift again, the problem will come up. But does anyone have any idea what this could be?? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

.......Also forgot to mention, it is like when the clutch overheats than the problem comes up but when cooled down, the problem goes away and everything is fine.

yeah... it looks like it is slipping. They probably put some really cheap clutch in there.

Definately some clutch slippage. If you didnt get AT LEAST an OEM clutch, then you got garbage. Also, he may have lied to you...

Thanks for the replies guys. When do you think I should have the clutch replaced? Right now it only happens when I overheat the clutch with multiple hard launches, and multiple drag racing (which I don't do occasionally). I usually only do a couple of spiritited runs and everything is fine. Also why does the clutch slip only in the 3rd,4th,5th gears when this problem arises on my car? 1st and 2nd are fine. It could also be a possibility that the salesman lied.

apparently, from what ive heard, most clutches start slipping on the higher gears, then it will find it way to the lower gears. Mine ONLY slipped when pushed hard (badly on a 1-2 shift), but since i was spraying, i needed something that could hold the power...

I dont know the normal period of time for a clutch, but mine was OEM, and it went at around 88K miles because of spray, im sure it wouldve lasted longer than that....
