whats the black screw on the egr valve

On top of the egr valve there is a black plastic screw, more like a thumb screw. My egr is malfunctioning so while cleaning it I had loosened that up I noticed the intake is allot louder at ilde until I made it tight again. Anywho I suppose it just lets more exhaust gas pass back into the system. That being the case...I wonder if you gain a couple horse power from opening it up some..it sounded like it was letting a ton of air back in. Or perhaps not..........lol.

That black plastic screw is the idle adjustment. Turning it one way will increase the idle, and turning the other way will lower the idle. I would suggest you adjust the idle if it is needed.

HA brought back from the dead. The plastic screw is on top of the IACV not the EGR. The EGR is way down there somewhere.
