Intake installation

B4 i go ahead and install my intake (a short ram air intake- one off of ebay BOMZ) I think I see how to do it, yet what do i do with the spout that takes in air from the front, if i install an intake filter, do i lose function of that? Is there anything i can do like putting a tube from it to the inside of the intake? HELP?

Say goodbye to all those plastic tubes. You have to remove all of the old intake system to make the new short ram fit. I just finished installing mine today and there is a whole lot more room in that engine bay now that the old filter is gone. Just take your time and install everything correctly.. Good luck.....

What did you do about the hood scoop? Can't you still use that? Won't it help bring in more air?

just go to just about any local parts store and looking in the cooling section. the tube is actually made for caburated cars but one of them will have a square end which fits over the end of the scoop and the other circular end fits under the filter. it an accordian style so it you make it any length you want. ive done tests with my obd2 software on my laptop and did notice cooler temps typically at least 10 degrees when at idle. when cruising, it was still cooler but only by a few degrees. the tube should only run 6 bucks or so.

Can any other 4th gen max post and show what they have done. I see now that the hood scoop goes into the stock air box, but when i put in the filter is there any way of putting a tube inside it? Or do i have to just take out the hood scoop?
