Is this Normal for an AUTO tranny???

Guys i need help man, no1 really helped me with my other post( http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=252157 ) so im looking for possible solutions myself and to begin with, i went no further than looking at rpm.

I just went and started my car when the engine was warm. my car is automatic. i had it on Park and my handbrake was applied, my rpm went up to 1100 EXACTLY and then 10 seconds or so after it starting heading down and stopped at 850 EXACTLY. is this normal or something is wrong? rmp didnt go down when i put the car in D and N with both brakes applied.

HELP

Sounds normal to me too. 10 sec seems like a long time when you're sitting there, but not completely outrageous for the computer to gauge conditions and kick down the idle.

it's normal as long as your idle rpms(in neutral) are around 800-850...
