Adding miles to an odometer

If you were to replace your odometer with one with less mileage, how would you roll the odometer forward to match your current mileage? Do I just send a voltage signal to a harness or connector or do I physically have to roll it?

i BELIEVE so dont quote me on this but the pre 97's can be physically rolled but the 98+ needs to be taken to the dealer

If there any way to put like a voltage charge to a pin to get it to roll automatically (making it think the car is moving really fast)? I really dont want to have to roll it by hand.

Couldnt you just remove the actual speedo gauge with the odometer from the old cluster and install it into the new one?

just take out your old odometer and put it in the new gauge cluster.

It's possible to roll a 97, I tried doing it after I screwed up my old gauge cluster, but on mine at least, you can only roll the 10th's.. so imagine rolling any significant miles.. not fun..

I dont think you understand. I'm asking how to roll an odometer forward, assuming your current odometer is faulty. I know how to take it out already

You're right, I didn't understand.. I thought you were putting in a new gauge cluster and just were trying to match the odometers.. my bad. in that case.. umm, that sucks, good luck trying to find a way to do it.. rolling it by hand will be no fun

Rolling forward you can do with a drill on the end of the odometer (for a 97 earlier) but has a break mechanism that will ruin the odometer if you try to roll it back much. A digital odometer (98+) has to be set by a dealer, and i think they would be willing to set it forward for u
