VQ Engine

I'm looking to buy a newer VQ30. One with low miles. How much do they go for on average? Is it worth getting a new engine, or is a rebuild a better buy. Any help would be great. Thanks.

you can get a used engine with 40-50k miles on it for $700-$1000 on Car-parts.com
BTW why do you need a new Engine ??

Yea how many miles do you have on your VQ
Check your compression, that will tell you how good your engine is
You might not need a new motor after all, being are cars last over 200,000 miles
when you change your oil under 3,000 or if you use mobil 1 every 6,000

I have well over 200k and dont change my oil near 3000 miles. Id say i average 7k to 9k between changes. I just think the VQ's are extremely well built. Just the other day I was driving to work, wondering how many cars I pass by every day, have more miles than me.

Back when I was at like 165K I had a slight oil leak that didnt even drop on the driveway, but it dropped enough on some starter sensor to keep it from starting. Dealership said that repairs on an engine with that many miles were futile. I said thanks, took it to a local mechanic, got it fixed and am still going!!!

Like a enegizer Batterie, still going and going and going.

Yes I have to agree with you i have went up to ten thousand miles between oil changes and still. Runs great and a matter a fact I just changed my water pump. So I went in the timing cover. But when i went to drive my car it had a miss. Because when I went to put the timing chain on the water pump it jump time, so tonight a friend from the org came to help me take it apart. You should see how well the timing chain looks. 115,000 and looks like brand spanking new. The viscosity looked great meaning the oil film. I can't say nothing bad about this motors its almost like they are made to run forever like my father volvo 240 its an 1988 and has over 300,000 miles he wont give it up. He loves that car.
So take car of it and you will be happy with the results. I do race my car a lot to and have had a zex 65 shot in for a month now.
