Well i just baught a 97 gxe and i have the service engine light on i went to my mechanic and he said that he ran it in the computer and it says the knock sensor is bad what does it effect and where is it located and how much to pay for an install?????

Typically a bad KS does not cause the engine light to turn on. Fix the other problems first before fixing the KS.
