I have the 95 maxima GLE with 85+k on it and it's eating up like 14-15 mpg doing local...WTF!! got a tune up like 4months ago and check the O2 sensor which is fine..so what else is there to do??thinking of taking it to the dealer but don't want to get scammed...better off driving this piece of **** off the cliff...

I have the same thing since getting my car, getting 220 miles to a tank. I can bet you that your KS is messed up, mine is and the car is pretty slow off the line and everything. Check your ECU every few months and the KS will show up...

yea i just got 372 on a road trip, and i was happy as hell until people started talking about getting 400+ every tank. search for knock sensor (check my sig) and you will find TONS about it, plenty of people have had and do have problems with it, and it will effect your gas mileage

Poor gas mileage can be caused by a number of things.

Aftermarket performance mods (got heavy wheels?)
Excessive carbon build up in your intake
Malfunctioning EGR system
The good old knock sensor
O2 sensors - Even if your not getting a CEL, the sensor may not be accurately measuring the A/F ratio. If your car is over 5 years old and has a few miles on it, change the O2's.
You can also clean your MAF sensor by spraying TB cleaner on the wire sensor. Dont rub it with anything, just let the cleaner blast any buildup off.

There are a few complete intake and fuel system cleaning systems on the market. Not just throttle body, I'm talking deep cleaning the entire intake path and cleaning up any valve deposits. Find a mechanic that has one (Nissan perhaps) and let him perform the service on your car. That should help increase fuel economy, performance and smooth out your idle as well.
