MINEIKE WANTED $800 for a brake job can anyone tell me my brake problem

I took my car to mineike because my front brakes keep locking up it was the right front first.I was driving when my car started shaking so i pulled over and my brakes on the right front side were smoking.I didn't know what to do so i bleeded that one and it went away but as soon as i got home it did it again but the left front side.So i asked mineike to check it and they told me i need all 4 calipers. in total they wanted $800 i was like what!!! so i went home bleeded all 4 again and my car is ok but i don't know for how long. Can any one tell me whats up if not where can i get 2 capilers for cheap.
thanks

Seems like your calipers are sticking. The right front side was smoking because you were basically driving for an extended period with the brake engaged, so the pads got extremely hot.

i think they might sell recharge kits for them...can anyone confirm this? that might save you some dough by not having to buy new ones.

Those calipers are rebuildable but I wouldn't bother doing that, especially if you have a lot of miles in them. autozone sells the front ones for like $50 each and the rear one for $70 with core, or find one at car-part for like $20 and they are not that difficult to replace. If you need help with the instructions, pm me and i'll refrence it from the haynes manual. Do it yourself its the cheepest way to go and you'll learn something.

I've bought calipers for a couple of different cars from Autozone and they have held up just as well as the originals. My old car had 88,000 miles when a caliper started sticking. I changed both of the front ones for about $50 total. Those calipers lasted until I junked the car at 150,000 miles

Lost a caliper pin? You'll need to buy a new one seperately. The new autozone calipers do not come w/ the pins.

Like 2 weeks ago i went to a local garage, and it was the same thing, he wanted 789 bucks to do only rear brakes on my car, work included 1 caliper, 2 rotors, and pads. I told the guy he is crazy and he still charged me &% bucks to put the car back together after i asked him to look at it.I ended up doing it that day myself, took about 45 minutes, and 230 bucks. So do it yourself is the way to go.
