Tranny cooler ?'s

I'm thinking about getting the VB upgrade at some point. I drive my auto decently hard and I know it may not be able to take too much abuse. My real question is, will the t/c help with a stock tranny as well? I'm sure it can't hurt but I'm not sure if it will help prolong my tranny. It seems to be a cheap enough 'mod' if it will help. Also, would I notice any improvement in the tranny shifts or anything or would it really just be better for the tranny with no noticable performance related improvement?

I know I've heard people say that better tranny fluid can help with crisper shifts, I was wondering if cooler fluid may produce the same. Obviously, it would not be a miracle cure, but I don't want to spend $1000 and up to fix my tranny when a $60 part could help prevent it.

Thanks!

Tranny coolers benefit any auto. A cooler tranny is a better, longer lasting tranny

That's kind of what I thought, thanks. How about any performance notices? I'm just curious.

Thanks

With tranny cooler and stock ATF, I noticed a little crisper shift.
It went away when I switched to MOBIL 1 ATF. I don't know why tho.

i was just interested and wondered if there was any advantage or disadvantage to having both(ive heard the tranny needs to at least reach a certain temp to work correctly)....im the only one i know who has it hooked up directly to the tranny and not going through the stock cooler

well, if you have a VB, then having both would be beneficial. without it, your setup is more than plenty. stock cooler doesnt provide greatcooling, especially if you're a "spirited" driver. i live in ny, have the cooler since early summer, so we'll see how it goes through the winter.

ive had mine on for 2 years without a problem...i have 120k miles on the tranny and it shifts perfect.....only complaint is since i installed the cooler the car shifts hard from 1-2 only in winter time...summer time its fine
