need help with brakes

need help with brakes

Hey, the brakes on my max dont work too great. I think they should be better, and under heavy breaking it gets a little ruff. Anyone know what it can be? I bought the max a few weeks ago, the lady told me she jus got the new pads and rotors. First I think I should get some good pads but Im not sure which ones I should get with these rotors. What should I go with? I do normal driving and sometimes heavy breaking.

"ruff" doesn't really describe much nor give people something to work with...

if you just got new pads and rotors, there isnt much to do except bleed the brakes.. unless something is not installed properly

Unless you do any amount of seriously hard breaking, there is no need to upgrade to better rotors or pads. Just save your money. And I have tried to use a couple of different performance pads because they were supposed to be a harder compound and less dust when using in town...they aren't. They are just a waste of money. Napa pads stop just a quickly and these "high grade" pads I have put out just as much dust as any normal pads. I think that there is just no way around some break dust, no matter what some people tell you.

ceramic brakes is the way to go

Jeezus, what's happened to my beloved 4th-Gen forum?

What does ruff mean? Is that anything like rough? Do you mean that you feel a lot of vibration when braking hard? Do you have ABS? Are your tires inflated properly? Did you get the rotors turned? Have you bled the brakes (notice - brakes, not breaks and braking, not breaking)? What pads and rotors are currently installed? Do you have grooves that are noticed by a swipe of your finger across the rotor? What pads are in there? Are they evenly worn?
