leaking speedbleeder !!!!

installed set of speedbleeders and all 3 work like charm -
they made SS brake lines install a breeze ( with exception of one rounded off 10mm nut which connects rubber hose to metal brake line up front)

but my rear passenger speedbleeder is leaking !!! it's torqued down properly and its leaking from the hole from which the brake fluids comes out , ( threads are not leaking ) i really thought those speedbleders were reliable- but guess not .

than i used regular bleeder screw , and i used vaccum pump the bleed the air out of it - and to my upmost suprise i could bearly get any fluid
flowing !!! and when i tighten it down it still leaked in the same manner as speedbleeder !!!!

now i'm suspecting that there is something wrong with the caliper itself

any of you guys had similar experience ?

the leaking brake fluid already damaged the inner part of the stock SE rim

Bummer

I have speedbleeders too & think they're great.

It sounds like if you're getting the same leaking with the speedbleeder or the OEM bleed valve, you may in fact have a problem with the caliper where the sealing surface (on the caliper) meets the valve opening (on the bleed valve) inside the hole in the caliper.

Did you notice a fluid leak on that caliper before doing the recent brake work? Mushy brake pedal leading up to the brake service? Low fluid level in the master cylinder?

If not, the caliper may have somehow been damaged internally at the valve sealing surface when you did the brake work. If that's the case, you may have to replace that caliper.

Good luck!

thanks you for replay - there was no leak before brake work and i think the caliper had to be damaged durnig the time when i removed stock OEM bleeder screw - i heard crack/braking noise -it sounded like the bottom portion of the bleeder screw broke off - but to my supprise - it- didn't !!!
I got it out and installed the speedbleeder than I attempted to bleed the line in the same manner like the 3 remaining sppedbleeders and during the process the was hardly any fluid coming out of it.

what could go wrong insised the caliper ?

thanks again.

Hard to say - the bore of the caliper that receives the male end of the bleeder valve has a pretty close tolerance to that male end. If there were any type of debris in the fluid, or corrosion on the male end, it could have been dragged along the bore as the valve was removed, skoring it & causing the valve to leak even when in the closed position. Debris or contamination in the fluid might also explain the slow fluid flow you experienced when bleeding only that caliper.

(Just a theory - you may wish to consult someone who actually knows what they're talking about before $pringing for a new caliper).

thanks again - as now the leak has stoped - i left the car overinght with shop towels under the caliper and next morning the towel was dry ....

brakes seem to work fine , master cylinder stays full. will bleed the line again and see if leak comes back.

I had the exact same problem happen on my rear driver's side. I installed the speedbleeders exactly as instructed, and for some reason the left rear decided to leak big time. I had brake fluid all over the underside. I ended up removing the bleeder to check it and re-installed it and it took the second time. I have no idea what happened...it's like it was stuck open or something. Glad you got yours fixed!
