HELP Max through 3 maybe 4 alternators in 1 year?!?
HELP Max through 3 maybe 4 alternators in 1 year?!?
i have a 96 maxima se auto that is now on it 4TH! alternator in less than one year. Now it is showing the same symptoms of another one except no battery+brake light indicators, which signify alternator troubles. What could be wrong with the car? My shop did voltage tests on all of the wiring in the car and the battery is less than a year old and has tested ok at 2 different places. Are alternators jsut made this poorly? I really need help this is getting really old, does anyone have any suggestions?
PLEASE HELP

Onw would think that after 2 alternators going out on you you'd realize that it's not the problem and you'd try to figure out what is. Sorry I can't really help you but you might want to check for other symptoms before you waste more money on alternators...
no shorts were found when the shop looked for them, im not sure what kind of alternator is used though, does the make of alternator really matter?
would u want a fram filter in ur car or a high quality nissan one?

I think that I've posted this before but i never got a reply. My alternator in my 98 was recalled, dont know if that has anything to do with it.
Sorry, just looked at your post and relized you have a 95, might want to look into that though.

one was purchased with a lifetime warrenty from autozone, the others were done professionaly with a year warranty on parts and labor (thank goodness). So should I get ripped off from the nissan dealership and buy one from them?
normal i believe is 60-80amps at idle
i think there is a short somewhere, have u tried to follow the wires? if so did u find anything odd? how bout the connector, is it in all the way? mine was not and i had to push the wires into the harness more so it made conect with alternator

the weird thing is that when the alternator is replaced its amperage is in the correct range when they test it. After about a month or two it trips the alternator trouble code and only puts out amps in the 10-20 range.

Spend the money and go to the dealership and get a factory OEM replacement alternator
