Apexi Ws Burning bumper

I just installed the Apexi Ws on my 97 maxima. Unfortunately the WS is hanging a bit high. It is actually touching the bumper and when it gets hot enough the exhaust seems to burn the bumper. There is also a problem about the exhaust knocking on something, tow hitch maybe? It gets annoying!!! what is happening? Is there a remedy? Please help I can't go to far without fixing this problem i don't want a burnt max.

What did you expect from a catback that isn't made for your car? The WS is for 95-96 cause the 97+ have longer bumpers. Tip is behind the bumper and is burning it. Did you do any research about it efore buying? I remember there being many threads of people burning their bumpers...

Yeah I did do research but in the process of doing the research I found that may people liked the sound and performance that the apexi ws provided.
So i wanted to experiment with this exhaust.

I just want to know if i can do anything before i send it to the muffler shop?

Nope, they'll just cut it and weld in a 2" extension. Of course you have to tell them to do that. Also they probably removed the hitch when they put on the exhaust, if they didn't maybe you shouldn't go back there anymore...

yeah, best to get an exhaust that is made for your car. Its a shame to hack and weld a brand new Apexi WS muffler

I just got the apexi back from the exhaust shop. They did have to bend the arms on the apexi. They had to bend the left and right upper arms to position it better. Before i sent the max to the exhaust shop, the apexi was touching the bumper and hanging off to the right. Now the apexi is repositioned in the center and is flush with the bumper (not touch it at all). Overall, the apexi is an exhaust that need a few modifications to fit the later 4th gen maximas but these are only minor adjustments that can be done easily and inexpensively.

erhaps it's a sign for you to sell it to a 96-96 Max owner

J/K .... you'd prob have to have it extended to clear the bumper. It's not a perfect fit for 97+ Maximas.
