Window rolldown with the remote can be a pain.

Well, I've never left my windows open but I did it last night, one of the few times we've gotten rain recently too. Last night I went out to get something out of the trunk, when it wasn't opening I realized I was pushing the wrong button. I ran back inside the house hitting the lock button to lock it but didn't notice or check my windows. They were down about 7 inches getting poured into. I guess once in while a convenience feature can bite you in the @$$. Or in this case give you a wet one. I just detailed the car the other day too.

I was thinking of getting an aftermarket alarm in the near future. I wonder if they could program an extra button to roll down the windows only, leaving the unlock button unlock only. For those with an aftermarket alarm, do you lose the roll down function with the new alarm?

I got a Viper Alarm. You can program it to roll down the windows, but I haven't done it yet. Oh well, atleast it has remote start.

don't blame the feature for your pressing the wrong button. You've gotta double check that stuff especially when u realized you pressed the wrong button initially!

Making them go back up is nice on rainy days.

Alright, as recently appointed head of the noobs-are-people-too-...-kinda committee, and someone who was also intrigued by the numerous threads about the remote (pressing the unlock button 17 times and holding can get my girlfriend's legs to open? really? man did i waste cash on flowers and dinners!) ... I've taken it upon myself to help the noobs currently at hand with stock remotes.

Unlock button once: Unlock driver door
Unlock button twice: Unlock all doors
Unlock button press and hold: Roll down driver / passenger window
Panic button press and hold for 5 seconds: Beep beep.
Trunk button press and hold for 2 seconds: Trunk opens.

Your stock remote -cannot- roll the windows up. Your lazy little fingers can before you get out of the car.

As far as I know the stock remote cant do -anything- else. Cant roll the windows up. Cant wash yr dog. Cant make the car roll over and hump your neighbor's leg. If I'm wrong so be it, but take a look through the old threads here on the remote's capabilities for a good laugh.

an A+ for searching
and all you actually have to do is look in the car manual and it explains all the features the remote has. . .

Don't get me wrong, I think the feature is nice. It was my fault for not checking. I was sharing my doh!!! experience before asking the question of those with aftermarket alarms. It would be nice to separate the feature to a different button, a slightly lesser chance of doing what I did the other night. If I knew I was hitting a window rolldown button by mistake, I would definitely check the windows. Hopefully, I shouldn't make this mistake again.

Actually, it made my neighbor call the cops. I sat on my keys around 2 am a few weeks ago, and it set of the alarm. I didnt hear it, but my neighbor, being around 75 yrs old, and a snoop, he called the police. That was real good for laughs.
