manual trans conv.

buying a 5speed max with good mile for a good price is almost impossible. i like my 97 SE, its already modded and still has warranty, but i dont have more than like 1100 to spend on tranny swap.

is it at all possible to do all parts and labor for this price? if so please let me know how.

it has been done but with extreme hook ups. Unless u know someone who can do it for u for free, i say its not gonna happen. Some shops charge 1100 for labor alone, u can find some org members that may charge between 500-900. Parts will run u atleast 400 (unless u are extra lucky) and thats with all used parts including clutch.

Well what my friend did that actually does limited mechanical work to his car is gathered all the parts, took about 2 - 3 weeks to study Hal's instrcutions and along with 4 or 5 extra bodies did the tranny conversion himself. Saved himself $1000 right there. Thats the only way I say you can do it for $1100. DIY.
