Is there any tricks to replace belts (not timing) on Maxima '99

I really haven't heard of to many people replacing their timming belts on the Org. I'm adding you your question but my car has 100k miles and i'm wondering if this is something that i need to do soon? How much does it generally cost?

 

He said not the timing belt, which for that matter we don't even have.

The blets are pretty straight forward, no real "tricks" involved. Pickup a Haynes manual...their writeup is pretty good.

 

we don't have a timing belt we have a chain that doesn't have to be replaced. As far as replacing your belts there is not really a trick to it you just have to loosen up the tensioner and the belts will come right off. Make sure you have a diagram of how the new belts are going to be installed.

 

its not tooo tough to do. If you have a chiltons manual, u will be fine. Visit my home page for the UDP pulley install. It talks about how to take the belts off.

 

The only trick would to be to avoid belt tension that's too high or too low. And you really gotta go out of your way to fukk it up. Too low and the belt slips,too high the belt can wear prematurely or stress the bearings of the tensioner & components. I just count the turns when I loosen the tensioner, return it to roughly the same point using a stock Nissan replacement belt.
