Why dont you just go down I-40 and do it... But if your auto that may be alot of your problem.

funny cuz my buddy told me he saw a black max drive by him faster than he's ever seen another car driving on the highway...wonder if it was you?? be careful at those speeds!

anyways, i think i read once before that a dirty fuel filter could maybe do this? not 100% sure if it was right but check that for starters?

I have a gxe and it topped at 125 (between San Antonio and Houston on I-10). Felt like I had plenty of pedal left, however car wouldnt go faster.

My 99 GLE with 17's went over 140 before, I think it should have read around 146, the needle was past 140, I think its cause of the big rims, I had an Intake on at the time too that I customised for Highend , haha it was a funny set up, I just attacthed the CAI extension first resonator, It sounded like a Deep Throat v8, I took it off recently cause of Ignition Coil Problems, Makes a really loud POCK POCK noise, Im getting the devil fixed tommorow though
