Depends on what your using it for. Car stereo=Yellow because it's a deep cycle and can take the charging and discharging better.

Actually I think the bluetop is a Deep cycle too, although it's a marine battery if I'm not mistaken.

Just get the yellow or red top, adn paint it blue with some duplicolor wheel paint......it is designed to hold well to plastic. Then just get you some of those felt washers and some nice battery cable connectors and you should be good to go......

Get whatever color you want, yellow or blue. They're all going to perform really well and last really long, but I believe that the blue lasts the longest (has to do with the way it's set up for marine motors or something, at least that's what I was told).

i've read many forums and even the optima website and I can't really see any design difference between a yellow and blue top. I have heard from many places that only red tops should be used as starter batteries, thats what they're designed for, yellows are supposed to be used as a second/reserve battery, not the main starter one. But I have seen tons and tons of people using yellow tops as the main and only battery and none of them seem to be complaining.

Also, if you get a batt. Don't but it off of ebay unless its a store because if it dies, you won't be able to get a new one through the warrenty because optima requires a receipt and a ebay transaction doesn't qualify as one. I killed a redtop in my CRX, was told that my 60 amp alt wasn't enough to charge the batt and power my stereo so the batt ended up being drained constantly and almost never fully recharged, died after about 9 months.

Get the red or yellow, don't get the blue. Optima web site has good info on the differences between them. If you just want a good starter battery, the red will be fine. Otherwise, get the yellow if you plan to use the battery (for stereos) while the car is not running.
