Suspension noise. Please help

I lowered my car with sprints and GR-2's a couple of weeks ago. there is a rattling and grinding noise coming mainly from the back right, but also the left. I was wondering if anybody could help me with this. It seems as if the whole strut is loose, but it is not. Dont want to take it in to a shop where they will charge an arm and a leg just to diagnosis the problem.

any comments or suggestions would be great. thanks

The grinding could be a wheel bearing. Also make sure the spring is turn the right way and not upside down.

Did you wrap the springs? Did you use a torque wrench and tighten all bolts to spec? Does this happen over large bumps or all the time? If it is just over bumps I would guess you need to wrap your springs with 1/2 inch clear vinyle tubing (found in the plumbing department of your local home improvement store.)

Sounds like you have a bushing in the wrong place or the assembly is still loose.

The assembly order is like this:

Dust cover
Large metal disc washer
Large bushing
Mount
Small bushing
Small washer
Nut

If your using KYB dust covers and did not push the cover down OVER the nub on the rear shock just after the threads, then your shock is not tightened correctly. To get the cover over that nub easily, just spray some WD-40 so it slides better. (by now the weight of your car has probably pushed it down)

I've seen that mistake happen to quite a few members.

some more questions

Tom:

Would it matter if the springs were on upside down? I have sprints an there is no writing on them, so how do i determine the right side up?

Another question is when you say the "large bushing", is that the one with the notches all around the side?

To maybe help you figure it out better, is it sounds as if I am writing with the trunk open. I almost sounds as if the whole assembly is moving and rattling in the strut mount area in the trunk.

thanks

my progress spring made all kinds of noise while turning(popping noise) and going over small dips(creaking noise). I cut a spiral wrap into some tubing from home depot (like many sugested for me to do) and i fixed BOTH issues.
