One pint enough paint?

To anyone with auto collision repair experience, will one pint be enough paint to paint a front bumper and fender with 3 coats? I have a friend who is fixing my car, and I'm supposed to buy the paint.. I wasn't sure how much I'll need.

Is it a pint of sprayable or just plain base coat?

If it's sprayable, (already reduced) then no way.

If it's pure base that needs to be reduced 2:1 or 3:1 then you might make it.

2:1 probably not, but 3:1 might.

You need one or two coats of clear as well.

If your friend is painting then wouldn't he/she know for sure?

3 coats of clear is to much, you'll risk cracking with that much material on the car.

Abimax95 is right, you need a flex agent in the base coat for the bumper.

Why not ask the guy who's paintin' it.
He's the one with experience, right?

yeah.....ask him....or call a shop and ask them what they would recommend. Tell that that another shop had quoted what your friend had said, and see if the agree, or disagree......

Long story short: Hit and run, insurance didn't cover it, quoted $1000 for damage..

I'm 17 and I have 2 friends that are in a vocational school for automotive collision repair. They voluntarily took my car in as a project for themselves to fix. Damage was my front bumper cover and fender. My fender was repairable, my bumper cover was replaced.

Now he is about to paint them. I always want to get a second opinion before I do anything. The thing is I trust my friends, and Im a broke student who works his *** off for his car, and can't really afford to have it fixed at a real body shop.. so I went out on a limb. I just know there are a few orgers with experience and I respect their opinions (njmaxseltd), so I figured I'd ask.

Edit: BTW, their teacher supervises and instructs...
