My Budget Y-pipe experience

well it has been 4 days since installing the BUdget Y-Pipe. Works WONDERFUL. I can so feel the gain. The pull after 3400rpm is ausome!! I get to about 65 and then rev that baby up.. I reach 80 in just a few heartbeats and the car just keeps going. I know it's bad, but going 95mph and the car is whispering to me... c'mon.. more.. more.. lol

I do however have the unfortunate bees in a can sound when the pipe starts to really kick in, although I will soon get some header wrap.

so for all you guys and gals that dont have a y-pipe. go budget. definitly worth the money!

Darn. I was going to go Budget to get rid of the bees in a can from my Warpspeed pipe.

Oh well - Cattman it is!

But if you like it - right on for you.

the bees sound is normal for all y pipes, remeber that you have a bend section and its really good made so you will have that sound 4ever.

Not really true - I have 3 friends with Cattmans and none of them have that sound whatsoever.

My Warpspeed Pipe however sounds like the bees are having a Rave in there or something.

Yeah, if the only modification you have is a y-pipe, chances are you'll hear something more noticeable than stock.

For those of us that have intake / exhaust / superchargers / turbos / etc, there's a lot of other noises going on so any "bees-in-the-can" noise isn't noticeable.

Well, I have a Budget Y on my 99 Max for a year now, I did not hear the bees in the can sound. However, I did hear the hissing sound which almost everyone that has a Y pipe (des not matter what brand)heard. Lately I started to hear a minor "tingling" sound that I suspected is coming from the exhaust system??

You think going 95mph is bad....wait till you get more mods....you won't be able to control yourself.

********WarSpeed Y-Pipe w/ Lined Flex section*******
Man, That sucks, when did you buy it? I got their newer design with the lined flex. I have NO BEES in a can. It did make my Stock exhaust a bit louder but no bees in a can. My Car sounds even better with my WS Y-pipe Being that the PR CAI made it sound like a deep throat Monster. You Don't understand how many people have asked me If i am super Charged because of my PR CAI. Wait until I get my Greddy SP2, man what a beautiful combination it will be. My car will sound like a Porsche turbo...

I also have Warpspeed y-pipe. No Bees in the can here either.
Funny, with the y-pipe on, my Franken intake sounds louder.

Mine's about 2 years old (older style)

I'm getting a good deal on a 3" Cattman anyway - so no biggie.

this is the dyno from motorvate.org. as you can see, the power of budget y-pipe does not kick in until after 3,400rpm-ish. therefore there are not too much gain at lower-end.

"Designed with 2" downpipes, a lined flex section to eliminate the notorius bees in a can sound and a custom 2-1/2" collector for maximum flow."
