Need new struts...HELP!!
Need new struts...HELP!!
I took the max in for maintenance the other day. Turns out, I need new rear struts. Apparently they are leaking and causing my rear tires to "cup." Has anyone ever heard of this/had this happen? THis sounds somewhat serious as it was told to me.
If replacement is necessary, I was thinking of either picking up a set of rear struts only. I was also thinkin of getting a complete new set of shocks and struts. Which do you think I should I do? Where can I find these online? I'm not really worried about price, but would like to keep it below $500. Thanks

tokico hp's are known to blow if paired with lowered springs so if u are planning to lower then don't get those.
For more info on other struts: http://maxmods.dyndns.org/?MaximaShocks

I am a little curious about the spring/shock kit on custommaxima also. I am getting the illuminas for sure, but I wonder if I should get the set(coupled w/ the tokiko springs, or by the H&Rs instead. Sounds like most people like the H&Rs, but has anyone had experience with the Tokiko performance springs?

I've installed 2 sets of the Tokico Springs. Both installs were with Illuminas which I highly recomend over any other strut. The drop is very even, even on 5 speeds. It's not slammed, it makes the car sit perfect. Very similar to H&R or Eibach drops. The ride seems pretty good too. Slightly firmer then H&R springs, more like the feel of Eibachs. It's an excellent package at a great price.
If you really want the best possible ride on a lowered car, get H&R springs and couple them with Tokico Illuminas.
If you don't want to lower your car put a set of Tokico Blue performance all around and you'll have that new car ride back again.
KYB GR2's will give you a firmer ride at stock ride height.

Get KYB dustboots and front strut bearings (if you want to).
