Intake confusion

I have been searching the org on all the different intakes out there and I have also done a search on the hacked airbox. There is too much controversy over what to do for intake. So now I don't know whether I should hack my airbox or just get an Injen intake or maybe even frankencar. I am not going CAI as I do not want to drill a hole in my fender.

First, some people say that the Injen intake could suck up water because it is seated so low in the engine bay. Does anyone know if this could ever happen? Some seem to say yes, others seem to say not unless you are floating away in water. Result=unknown
Second, some people say that the Injen intake is faced next to the radiator, so it sucks in hot air. Some say yes that must be the case, others say no, it doesn't. Result=unknown
Third, Injen intake gives a power increase. Some say yes, others say no. Result=unknown

Same with the Frankencar intake. Some say the intake gives some power increase, while others say they feel lag in the lower end. Result=unknown
Some say they feel lag in the summer using the Frankencar, while others say they feel a nice midrange with this intake. Result=unknown
Some say their 1/4 mile times are faster with the hacked airbox over the Frankencar. However, this has been tested on different track days and we all know how inconsistant times can be on different days. Result=unknown

You can see how I am confused, and I know there will never be an answer to any of this, but I just want to get some opinions on what I should do. Based off of all the unknowns, I wouldn't mind doing the hacked airbox and save some money, but I have some fears. I need some opinions.

Try reading this thread and you should notice the progression or lack of it is based primarily on feel and personal preference. Ask your self what you want and how much you wanna spend. My personal preference is a K&N cone filter(some call it a pop charger) and the stock resonator. I have no conclusive evidence wheather it makes better power or not. I "FEEL" my place racing CAI henders top end performance but low end is enhanced. I'll try to find the other thread on this issue also.

Thank you very much. Yeah I wouldn't mind spending some good money, I just want to make sure I will enjoy it and not waste the money. I really want an Injen intake, but I am worried about water getting in the intake. Not sure if this could happen or not.

This is another thread on the same thing. As far as the Injen intake, I don't know how low in the engine bay it sits. For it to suck up up water though the filter would have to come close to being completely emerged in water. So if it rains alot where you are and there are deep puddles this should be of some concern. I have both so I can switch back and forth depending on the season.

i think that all intakes are good. so get what you want. the only reason why i got my injen was for the bling bling. also i have driven in rain where i can hear the water hitting the bottom of my car and have had no problems.

Hacked air box rules for now man. I just ordered a KS and will test out both the hybrid and the hacked air box. Hybrid has more go at higher rpm and the air box has more low end...
