hey guys i would like to know what brand of tires are good for all season perfomance and are Z rated. i was thinking about these brands, falken, yokohama, dunlop, and is that nitto tire any good? I want something quiet also. its gonna be 17" rims or maybe 18". the stock treadwear is 260 on my goodyears so the lower the number the faster the wear?

i have dunlop a2 (15"), and they're pretty good. i also hear good things about bridgestone RE950, which is also #1 on tirerack.

Check out Sumitomo HTR+ all season high performance. They ride awsome and handle great.

I have the Bridgestone Potenza RE950s..and i love them and I reccomend them highly. Quite ride, excellent handling both on dry and wet pavement. not the most wallet friendly though.

I just got new Nankang Sport NS-1 tires for my 17" rims. They ride really great so smooth. Around turns it handles great. What a difference from stock. And they look good and are quiet.

All this I paid $70 a piece.

i was gona get the nankangs.. but the dood hooked me up witht he kuhmos for only 10 more a tire.. ill get nankangs when these wear out..

anyway.. htr+ is good, dunlop sp A2 are good..these are all seasons..

I don't think your going to find a "Z" rated all season tire and the tread ware rating is not standardized. A 300 rating to Firestone is not the same as a 300 rating to Goodyear....


I run 950's and they are a great all season performance tire.

Treadwear is something designed by the DOT and it IS designed to help consumers compare tires. Is it exact? No. Is it more reliable when comparing the same brand? Yes. Is it invalid when comparing different brands? No.
To ignore it is just like ignoring an MPG rating on a car. Most of us do not have the luxury of mounting 2 sets of tires on 2 identical cars and driving them into the ground and recording our findings, so the UTQG rating is the next best thing. U stands for "uniform."

Anyway, HTR+ are dirt-cheap at $115 for a 235/40-WR18, and let's be real, a 168 mph rating is more than good enough for a 4th gen. It's what I have and those bad-boys worked well when we got the 25" snow storm. But if I were shopping for new I would try the PZero Nero M&S, because they are 400 AA A. We can argue until the next 3-Series comes out that UTQG means nothing, but with the AA traction rating available (since '97) at a low price, I wouldn't even consider a tire with only a A or a B. Let's also be clear on what Z means--it means beyond 149 mph, but not by how much. W = 168 mph, Y = beyond 186. We're talking about a Maxima here, so those mph's are crazy. But W's are pretty much standard and dirt-cheap so why not. my .02

i'm looking at the $40 Kumhos ECSTA HP4 716 on tirerack.com it got really good ratings....anybody hear good things about these?

i second that, my girl has them on her lexus, and i really haven't gotten them to slide or loose group at anytime dry/or wet. good stuff!
