Car turning off randomly

Well, i was on the way to school this morning, going about 35, when my rpms go crazy, they are at like 300 when im goin 35. Then my car just turns off. Im almost at school so i put it in neutral and get to school, but the car is very jittery, and acting very wierd. I have no idea what could have happened, i have almost a full tank, everything was fine the other day, my oil is fine and everything.

Mabe my gas line got clogged?? I have no idea, if you have any speculations on what could have happened, that would be very helpful. Ill take it to the mechanic after school.

Did you get a check engine light? Read the codes and see what it reports.

its possible that the coolant temperature sensor or Coolant gauge gone bad. Mine went haywire with all the dash lights flashing and then it would cut off and stall while i was driving. SCARY to say the least. This is one of the components in the system that manages fuel mixture and tells the ECU to run either lean or rich.

I'm having mine changed today.

were you accelrating? do you have an auto or manual. If you were in a high manual gear, or the auto had shifted up all the way, the idle speed could be off, got too low (300rpm u said?) and died. Why would any of the coolant or temps sensors have to do with the RPM of the engine, or it stalling?

Heres some facts i left out.

1999 auto gle
I was going about 30, after driving for about 3 mins, engine goes crazy, rpms go wierdly low, then it stalls while moving, i shift to neutral and start it back up, and make it about 2 miles to school, rpms still going wierd.

Super-humid florida morning, extreme i mean, can this have anything to do with it?

I drove it to discount auto parts and got some water remover additive, and it seems to be running fine now, but the Check Engine light is still on.

Yes i did get a Check Engine light, and its on still, after driving 30 miles while its been working fine.(after school, after getting additive)

Where would the check Engine code be found? Ive never done anything like that before, thanks in advance, and sorry for the late reply.

i have a manual and my car would cut off when i was doing about 35 sometimes. It was weird cause when i would have it in nutral my rpms would be at like 900 then i would push in clucth and put it in first with my foot off the gas, and the rpms would rasin to about 1900. It was weird. I had a bad throbble body postioning sensor.
