will 2000-2001 tranny fit?

i was wondering if the 5th gen 5spd transmission will directly fit into a 4th gen 5spd motor. What other parts would be necessary for this to fit if it doesnt directly bolt on.
Thanks

no, some newbie DID put a 2ksomething engine in his 4th gen, but with no variable intake. without that...it gave no power advantages whatsoever, but was low mileage. the tranny will fit

like I said don't bother, you can't put the intake manifold in. It doesn't clear the hood but that's not hard to fix. The problem is the firewall is in the way...

2000 engine and automatic transmission to a 1995

Hello guys;
I have a 181k Maxima 1995 which I really like; I would like to bring it back to life by putting an engine and transmission from a Maxima 2000 with 101k that I can get locally for 400 bucks

my only concern is to know if it will fit?

My transmission is broken and I need to put a new tranny in; also my 95's engine is dying and is soon do for a new timing chain and don't want to do this so if I can put these in it will be great. for the price of 400 bucks I am getting the engine and the tranny from a crashed car...I think that this is a great deal... what are the things that I would need to take off my 95's engine for the swap to work? (if)

The seller of this engine has agreed to do the labor for only 250 bucks.

Any Help is greatly appreciate.

The engine will be a direct swap. Not sure about the tranny though. From what others have said, that can also be swapped. IMO if you are going to go through that much work, I'd say find a Maxima/altima with a VQ35 and swap that instead. If you are doing a swap, you may as well swap for a lower mileage more powerful motor.

That is some what good news. thanks

Well, 400 bucks is a good bargain and I do need the trany regards, so instead of buying a 300 dollars transmission I put 100 more and get a newer engine.

I thought about the 3.5Lt upgrade but I would have to get the cables and computer for the whole car too. I know someone that had a 3.5 hybrid swap because his car is running on a 97 cpu and he complained about gas consumption because the engine is runing rich, etc. so I only want the same power I had before when my car was running and to be good on gas.

did any of the 2000 cars came with non-locking differential? because that is what I had in my car. I don't know if it makes a difference. ????

You got the motor put it in there it its same engine almost. If you want a 3.5 do that to but once again its all up to you and your budget.

dont forget to mention the fact that the 00 01 motors have the variable intakes, and different tb, and fuel injectors, etc... the motor might be a direct fit but you will have to swap all of your accessories and intake manifolds over...

unless theres a fix for that too?

either way, just make sure you do your research dude. there was a thread a while back about a guy with i believe it was a 96, that put a 99 motor in his car... well, almost everything is different and he got royally screwed...

Wow none of you guys read around obviously, a dek engine fits directly into a 4th gen no problems and you dont have to swap intakes or any of that, you need to be smart with wiring and get an rpm switch hooked up for the variable intake to function along with that if you run a stock ecu i would suggest a tune for it also som that also means buying a safc or vafc which would be the cheapest....however if youre going this far into it and plan on keeping it stock i would suggest buying a 3.5 and swapping that, you need the timing set from the 3.0 upper and lower oil pans and rewire the 3.5 injectors to the oe harness and get a tune also...your buddy with the 3.5 swap probably did it the halfa$$ way dropped it in and ran the harness for injectors and left it at that, theres plenty of people here who will vouch that a 3.5 swap isnt much more than a dek swap and tghe gas mileage doesnt differ all that much from a 3.0 if you do the swap the correct way and not halfa$$ed... trust me ive been doing alot of reading myself because come spring im swapping a 3.5 into my 99.... use the search function, one member in particular i know of with a dek swap in his 4th gen is danmack.... he lives in rhode island and knows how to do it so look him up here and maybe ask him a few questions he may help you out on terms of what you will need seein he did the FULL swap

nuff said. he wants a fresh motor. not a crazy swap with rpm switch and tuner and all that... hes obviously not in it for a crapload of wiring...

trust me, i do plenty of reading... i tried to inform him of the problems and issues with a direct swap... because the dek, by no means is a direct swap... sure it fits, but thats about it...

sold

Hello guys; thank you very much for all the latter comments;

I went to see the guy selling the engine and it turn out to be a mechanic shop. as I walked in he had a 2000 max already in there with half the work of taking off the engine done, so I was late; Yeah some one else hooked up the deal before me.

I am gonna get a trainy so that my car runs for now. I live in Connecticut so RI is the next state over. maybe I can get in touch with that fellow of the complete 3.5 swap.

ps. by the way this same person would sell the transmission of that 2000 max for 100 dl. but it looks so dirty and yellow that makes me feel that it isn't a good idea.

Will a 1999 engine fit in a 2000 maxima?

I need to know if It is possible to put a 1999 maxima engine in a 2000 maxima. And will the 2000 maxima transmission matchup to the 1999 engine? I have a smashed 1999 maxima engine that is in good shape and I might buy a 2000 maxima with a blown engine and drop the 99 in hopefully no problem.

The engines will interchange, but you will probably need to swap pollution control stuff.

If you are swapping an auto trans, it will bolt right in but you will have shifting problems because there were internal changes made with the torque converter and the TCMs are different. You cannot swap the TCMs because the wiring is different.

Both cars have a 5 speed manual. Will it be easier having the manual transmission to work with?

I currently drive a 99 a32 max, 01 motor with 95 ecu to get rid of NATS and make some emissions stuff easier. The motor and tranny will fit, with no fabrication of the firewall. It runs, not well yet, but it does run. I do have to use a safc/adjustable fuel reg to lower fuel pressure as the 00- 01 motor uses bigger injectors than the 95. Just thought i would share info.
