Alright here's my deal, This guy I know is a Maxima hater. So he's trying to prove my car is slow and worthless. His stang has a white convertable top and white leather, yeah,no comment on that. The stang owner is a stock 4.6 auto. I also have a auto with PR cai and y-pipe. So you guys think I can keep up or maybe win? Keep in mind the 96 stang is one of there slowest years and being a convertable gives him some extra weight. Thanks for the reply's

hells ya

You would most likely, almost 100% beat him. Tell him to open his top, it'll make him go faster.

Well if you're 5spd you'll walk on him hard. If you're auto it should be close but I don't know which way to lean.

Stang convertables are like 200lbs heavier than the regular stangs! =) And its auto! I'm putting my money on you. The day you plan to race him.. Make sure you have only about 1/4 tank of gas left.. and take out your spare tire. Make sure you get a good launch. Shift manually. Don't over rev at the line. Brake torque to about 1200 or so and floor it and hang on.. Shift at redline 1-2 shift, again at 2-3..

I drive a 5spd, but even stock I could beat my friend's 94 Mustang V6. You said he's a 96 4.6 auto which makes it a GT. The V6's are 3.8L and would be an easy kill. The GT will give you a really good run. Your ypipe and cai should be a great asset to you though. Be glad you weigh less

Not to doubt you, but the guy must be an awful driver. Any year Cobra, even the newer 4.6L ones with less torque down low should kill a Max.

Mustang GT....DOG

I'm with BrianV on this one, If you had a 5-speed....bu bye mustang, but with the auto it's hard to call. My brother has a Grand Prix GT and he loses to a Mustang 4.6 by like half a car length....but he can kick his friend with a 95 Maxima GLE's butt (the GLE has an intake)...so I don't know what to tell ya. It will definitely be close....good luck!!!!

Just keep in mind.. when his car is spitting out buckets of parts at every shift in a couple of years you can cruise on by.
