Fuel injector

I have a European Maxima 2 litre. While checking the make of coil on cylinder 2 which needs replacing, I inadvertantly removed the fuel injector (don't laugh but I thought this was the coil pack). Some gas spilled out but I immediately put the injector back. The thing is the symtoms caused by the faulty coil (knocking and poor performance) have suddenly worsened. The car is now having great difficulty starting and the emmissions have become very smelly. I am waiting on a new coil to arrive at the shop. My question is: Did I commit a mortal sin by removing the injector even though I didn't meddle with it and replaced it immediately? Have I caused some vacuum problem. How do I correct any wrongdoing?

wait for the new coil.

gas probably got into the cylinder and with a bad coil there is no spark to burn it away
