My factory nissan alarm on my 95 SE has been giving me
intermitent problems.
When I press the lock button on the remote the blinkers
should blink twice but sometimes they don't and if I press
the unlock button I can see the dome light go on and the
doors will unlock but still the alarm does not activate all the time.

Is the alarm part of the ECU or is there a seperate 'brain' I can switch out to solve this problem?

Thanks, E

delay

Theres usually a delay, like less than 2 minutes, from when you lock the doors for the alram to be armed.

I think the delay is only if you dont activate it yourself.

I used to be able to press the lock button on the remote
and the doors would lock and the blinkers would blink twice
to indicate that the alarm is set.
This sequence happened every time till about 3 months ago
now blinkers only indicate every now and then.

So, are you saying that when you press the lock button on the remote, the doors lock but the signals don't flash? Or does nothing happen, like the doors don't even lock? In that case try replacing the batteries in the remote.

Also, the alarm has a delay of 30 seconds before arming. Try this...lock the doors but leave the drivers windows open. Notice the "security" light is solid red? It's not flashing yet. Unlock the door by reaching inside the window. The alarm will not go off. Now arm the alarm again, and wait 30 seconds. The security light will now be flashing. Reach in, unlock the door, the alarm will now go off.

I guess what I'm saying is the doors WILL lock but I dont
always get the 2 flashes from blinker.

and I will try what you said because maybe its an electrical problem and not alarm.

Thanks
