Taking out the resonator
I was just wondering if anyone on the .org has gotten their resonator taken out?
I was curious if it give the car a good deep sound with an exhaust, or a ricer high annoying sound?
thanks jeff

if you really want to mess around with it, you will find that you get a little more power i.e. acceleration from keeping the main stock resonator.
as far as the cold air scoop and the scoop's resonator, you can chuck it.
the main thing that the resonator does is to help smooth out the air flow so that it is much easier for the TB to handle.
This is why you see and hear of people who like things like the "tornado air" and claimed that it worked, did not have the resonator, and installed the "tornado air" after the MAF and before the TB. It worked for them because it smoothed out the air.
As far as sound, you would be better off buying a CAI or HIA that uses the stock mid pipe i.e. the resonator. This will give you a sound closer to the muscle car sound, without sounding like a ricer.
or, take the easy way, and just take your stock setup and do as follows.
remove the cold air scoop and cold air scoop resonator. Take your stock air box. Seperate it into the top and bottom air box. Take the bottom air box and cut off everything except the lip. Un-bolt the top air box from the MAF and flip it around. Re-install the air box and use the lower lip to secure the air filter down and in place. This way, you still get a power boost over the stock setup with only having to remove and mod some things.
After you do that, buy a K&H Panel Filter. Better air flow.
