Polished Straight Pipe ?

I searched but the one question I couldn't find was whether or not a straight pipe is illegal. Is it?

Also, what does it do to emissions?

Thanks.

well it eliminates your catalytic converter...not to be a jerk, but i'll tell you it won't improve your emissions...you probably won't pass without that.

They are illegal...as said above it replaces your cat. = Making your car more polluting.

I have one......maybe +1-2hp and minus 1-2tq.

Thats impossible....you can't just gain HP while losing torque. Look at the equations:
H.P. = Torque x RPM/5252
Torque = H.P. x 5252/RPM
One relys on the other, so if one goes up so will the other and vice versa. What I think that you meant to say is you loose power in the low end but gain it in the top end???

Well it's the truth and if you don't know how the equations work don't post them. Those would be true if the gains and losses were at 5252rpm but they aren't...

Excuse me? I DO know how these equations work, and I know how they were made. And also, its not for 5252 rpms...there is a variable that you have to replace with the rpm's. so therefore YOU don't post stuff you dont know about...

was I wrong, no. Were you, to an extent. Why do you think most if not ALL exhaust mods lose low end torque while they gain higher rpm hp. You shouldn't have brought it up in the first place since it doesn't really have anything to do with this thread...

Yea I said that same thing...you lose low end and gain top end. But you can't lose torque while gaining HP at a single RPM.

Well yeah of course, I know that. The guy never really gave the range of loss or gain so whatever...
