How many of us were in this position while removing and connecting the coolant lines?

It's double digits. You lose power in the low-mid range but you gain power after like 5000rpm. I fyou do TONS of highway driving then it should be fine. City driving will be worse since you lose like 10-15hp or more. But get a JWT ECU as soon as you can afford it and the power will come back...

I have a MEVI in my car and I did a before and after dyno. I only lost 8 lb-ft of torque (it chopped off one of the torque spikes at around 4000 rpm) but I gained 8 peak hp and 38 hp at 6500 rpm I am very happy with the new power curve.

deezo, I hear you, those coolant lines took me forever!!! It didn't help that it was 30 degrees outside when I did the install.

too bad right when you gain those 38 hp, you will have to shift. Thats why JWT sounds so good, yet if I get it I will get that PITA CEL (97 max). But the mevi should still help from 5k and up compared to the USIM right?
and according to this thread:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ight=mevi+dyno

They didnt lose double didgits either. well not 15 hp high...

that looks sweet, raiker!!!

Hope you have fun with that MEVI. I want to get one as soon as I get the money until then I'm stuck with the USVI.

Do you think that it would be better to get a JWT ECU before or after the MEVI?

Just a correction, I think its 'USIM ',no VI... VI would denote Variable intake, in which case you probably wouldn't want to get the Middle Eastern version. Also, keep in mind, if you get a JWT ECU for your 97 the way it is now, you will have a CEL pop up. It will still "work", but if you decide to ignore it, and something else goes wrong, you won't know. If you are willing to take a risk, then go for it. Personally, I would go for the JWT first, and then the MEVI. I rather have no losses (IE midrange plummet from mevi) from the JWT, and once I have the MEVI, the increased RPM will help even it out.

Dude you don't loose any HP you loose about 5-10lbs of tourque. I installed mine when I still had a stock Y pipe and still loved it. and ran an identical 1/4 mile. Not to mention that when installed with all NA boltons, it will beat a equaly equiped max with a USDM.

Enjoy your VI bro.
