You should win, just brake-torque a bit (not more than 2000 rpm) and stomp on the pedal, that's all there is to it.

i've never actually raced a v6 mustang. but i know my friends 325is is exactly as fast as my car. at the track we almost cross the line at the same time. and due to some street racing last friday, i know my friends bimmer will kill a stock stick V6 mustang 4 times outta 4 runs. kinda a round a bout answer but best i could do.

It would be a close race,it would really depend on the drivers,

I believe in 99{maybe 00} the V6 Mustang got a lot more powerfull and are not real slow like the old ones were. Check http://www.edmunds.com and see what they have listed for the mustang and compare.

one of my good friends has one

I drive it all the time. It is a 5-speed and my maxima is an auto. We have never raced but judging by my butt-dyno I wiuld kick his tail pretty bad. I dont know why it is slower, though, it weighs less, has the same horsepower, and has shorter gear ratios. oh well. you should have no problem.

A new v6 will give you a good run especially if he has a stick and you have an auto. IMO you'll lose. The hp for both cars is rated at 190hp, but the mustang has more torque. The mustang also has shorter gears, weighs almost the same, and can get great launches because of the rwd. My friend has a Mustang v6, but I haven't raced him yet. His car is in the shop

Hype, I don't know if I told you or not, back when I had my 93 drk blue max, I raced a Mustang GT auto 92 or 93, we were going like around 35mph then we both punched it and in no time, I was half a car ahead of him, going 110 on Preston Rd & Spring Valley. It was crazy, especially it was right after I go pulled over going 115mph in 60mph zone on 183 and McArthur.

He'll take you if he can drive at all. My best friend's wife has a 2000 5spd V6 with only a K&N drop in filter. We raced three times. At the time, all I had on my 95 auto Max was a POP charger and Trans-go shift kit. I'd take him to 40mph, then he'd slowly walk me. The last race he got great traction and we were side by side till 30, then he slowly walked me. We only raced to 100 so, I don't know what would happen after that. He is an EXCELLENT driver. My guess is that 0-60 with the averge driver you would hang. Don't shift manually unless you have a Y-pipe.

Hello Mr. Bigtexan 7 you need to come to town to try that mustang again when it gets out of the shop (drunk person backed into it)

take him!

you should take him easily i would think. i took at auto 2k-2k1 GT twice and he took me once, all were exceptionally close not being more than a 1/2 carlenght difference. took it up to about 90ish. as for a base mustang, i would expect the V6 to be much weaker than the V8s. even if the guy knew how to drive a 5spd perfect, i dont think he could outmatch a GT. give it a try, or have you already?

when I was stock he put a couple of lengths on him, now I'm a full second faster. It's a friendly ongoing grudge match. Tyson97se's older brother's wife's car.

It is all going to depend on the driver. I have driven a manual V6 Stang and my car still felt better as well as revved a lot nicer. Plus you have nothing to lose - stick vs. auto, 4 foor vs. coupe, 3.8 vs 3.0. Now if HE gets beat he'll really feel stupid. Good luck.
