hood strut

i have search some old threads about where to get these, and I found that a lot of people got them at partsamerican for 16$ a piece for the strong arm 4524. But I just went to the website and found them for $32.99. I dont know if that is the price for one or two but it does say 2 required along with the part number. So my question is for those who had ordered from partsamerica their hood struct, did you place a order for qty 1 or 2. Because if would make sense if the price is now 32.99 and it comes with both of them. But if not that is a pretty big price hike. I also found some made by AC Delco for $28, does anyone have any experiences with those ?

Get the StrongArm ones from PartsAmerica since it comes with lifetime warranty. It'll go bad again in like 2 years so you'll get it replaced for free.

I'm looking for a local place to buy StrongArms from. I think CarQuest has them, need to go look later

I replaced mine with the Strong Arm #4524 units a couple years ago, and they just went bad. (lasted about as long as the stock units)

I took them back to Advance Auto Parts and they replaced them for free.

The replacement price was going to be $37 (including tax) for the pair.

Purchase them locally so you will be able to take them back when they lose their tension in a couple years.

Good Luck!

Thanks, I just purchased them from partsamerica. But I noticed something really weird with their system. When I try to check out with my zip code here in California the price is for $32.99 a piece. So i tried a random zip code in the east coast and the price came out to be $17 a piece. And they did not have it in any of the local stores here anyways. So I just checked out with a chicago zip code and had them shipped it here to california. But I find their system to be really faulty and I had to cheat the system to get a lower price, can they even do that? Over here in CA they dont have Advance Auto and espeically in San Francisco they only have Kragen as the major auto parts store, and since they have a monopoly all the prices here tend to be a lot higher than other chain auto parts store.

What a way to rip you off. Last time I checked, my total was $40 shipped for a pair of them.

There is a store in Indiana that sells them. It's about an hour drive from my home. I'm planning on going there if I don't find them at CarQuest

I just got an email saying my order was cancelled, because they are out of stock.... weird as they have it in stock at those advance auto stores, but they don't have any at the warehouse. I think they just dont want to sell them to me cuz I found out about their little scam.....

Keep yer receipt. Mine died in 6-7 months after install. I've bought plenty of parts, have every receipt...can't locate the hood shock one. So now I'm forced to go buy some...and then return 'em. doh.

Most of these places will have you in the 'computer' nowadays... so you don't really need the recipt. Just go to where you purchased it from, or tell them which store you used for the initial purchase.

I didn't have my original recipt either, and didn't remember the exact location it came from, but the cashier just said to buy a couple, then bring the old ones back in the new bags for a refund.

Good Luck!

I found some at Kragens for $24.99 a couple months ago but didn't get them, I wonder if they still have them, I guess $17 a piece would be a steal!!!

I paid about $17 from advanced auto parts and kept my receipt. I plan to return them if/when they die. I am in the computer, bbut I don't trust them to not purge the database every year or so if i am inactive.

im gonna have to visit autozone tomorrow. i dont trust parts at R&S strauss anymore due to poor fitment and other things.

too bad the stock hood stays run $95.63 from the dealer. For reference the Nissan OEM part number is 6547040U00.
