Anyone has LED bulbs in their tails?

I was looking long ago at these LED bulbs ($6/per 1) and when today the bulb burned out in my first gen Altezzas I decided to give a try and get some. But before that would like to hear what others have to say about them.
Are they any brighter indeed than stock 1157s. How do they look? Do they last? Would getting Polargs ($8/per 1) be a better decision?

Thanks!

I don't recommend you use them in your tails. The light output from the LED bulb doesn't shine like a normal bulb. The light is focused mainly in one direction and will not scatter normally.

Thats a little different....he meant as a replacement to stock bulbs, not completely redoing his lights

You're correct. Having a single 1157 red LED bulb will not scatter light to the sides, which will give you a dim dot in the tails during the day and a bright dot at night. That is the only downfall to LEDs, they only throw light straight.

You could always make LED tails like mine, only took me ~70 hours to make them, no biggie

Yea, your tails rock, I think there is no member on the .Org who does not know your car.

Well, Altezzas do have a sort of "diamond cut" glass to scatter the light. However I believe you are right, one LED bulb wouldn't do a good job. What about Polargs, how come they are brighter with the same specs as any stock 1157s, or they are not the same?

a single big LED wont spread light to the whole lense, and will look horrible. araffio did something quite different

Yeah, I was behind a FX45 tonight, and when he put on his signal, the glare was very annoying. What works on the DeVille and S500 clearly does not on the Infiniti. Poor design. Nissan needs to somehow meld design with fashion imho.

some people have used thicker lenses...doesnt let as much glare through, and it spreads the light better across the whole lense...but it still needs perfection

those would also focus the light only in one place...not spread it across the lens.

I have LED bulbs in my tails (GenII) and they look pretty sweet!!! Just got the ones from AutoZone. I think the brand name is Jamstrait? If you are going to use them in your turn signals, u need to get a load resistor. I ordered mine from superbrightleds.com. I have red turn signal LEDs and white LED bulbs for reverse. I will see if I can get some pics tomorrow.

yea, gen2s with the little circle lenses focus the light in one single place... with redclears, you have a big flat open lens you need to light
