Port and Polish & Bore and ReSleeve
Port and Polish & Bore and ReSleeve
Well this would be a dream mod for me. I was thinking.......I'd love to get like a Stage 3 or 4 Port-n-Polish. It's supposed to have some serious gains, right? And Bore-n-Resleeve the Block. Maybe to like a 3.2 because thats the farthest it can go, that was my understanding. Other than a lil bit of new noise/sound coming from the engine, I believe it would have a better performance overall, plus added/permanent power increase. I like this idea better than NITROUS because you always have to fill up the tank. Just a thought. But add some of the Cattman Headers, and some new Cams and I'd say your in business. Considering you already have the basic mods done (i.e. Y-Pipe, Intake, & Pulley). Whatcha'll think about that?????? Just curious...
P.S. Getting my 60 Series Flowmaster Muffler, Hi-Flo Cat and custom B-Pipe put on Saturday

I know a lot of the Honda guys bore and then resleeve, but most of them are running a lot of boost and the factory sleeves will fail above a certain point on those cars. I don't really think that boring and resleeving a Maxima block would be worth the money simply because it would be a totally custom job and cost way, way more to do. The Honda guys can get it done for relatively cheap.
I don't know if anyone with a Maxima has gone the port and polish route, if someone has, I'd love to hear about it and see the results. Really though, unless someone just has money to burn, then there are better ways to get power. For the kind of money it would cost for cams, headers, port and polish, and a bore and resleeve, you could have a really nice SC or turbo setup where the power is there all the time and still have money left over to get new pistons. And a properly done SC or turbo setup would put down way more power than the all motor setup. Unless you really, really want to go all motor, the cost/effort of doing it isn't really justified. If you simply have to get more displacement, swapping a 3.5 block in is probably a cheaper option.

Well I'm really a fan of an all motor setup. I know this would be extremley costly to do. And NO I don't have the money to burn. But I would love to do all those things, and add a Mevi. I think that setup would be pretty impressive. Oh hell why not throw a turbo on it anyway........all I can hope for is to hit that dang Loto here in Texas. Do you think that setup would provide serious gains???
