Loss of power
I have a 97 Max (auto GLE with 40,000 mi) that recently seems a little sluggish at low speeds, on the highway it seems much more noticeable
(60-85mph).
the only thing that's changed is that its much colder here in Michigan. I bought the car in Oklahoma where its spent its entire life until the past 3 months. i ran the codes and got 05 05 - no problems found..
a couple questions...I know the ignition coils can go bad on Maximas...could this be it?? are there cases where this would delay or not trigger the service engine light to come on? could it be a bad fuel injector or spark plug??

Slugish:
1. Try to change out the plugs to NGK OEM PRF5G-11
(Please do not go cheap on plugs they are crucial to the throttle response)
You can get these shipped to your door off Ebay Stores for $29/less.
2. Change out the Fuel Filter...$6.98 at Pep Boys
3. Throttle Body/Plate Cleaner...$3.99 at Pep Boys
4. A normal check of your Auto Tranny Fluid (Dextron 3Mecron) only...I've heard of used Maximas getting different mixtures of tranny fluid...previous owners were cheap.
All of the above... might do the trick.
More Expensive problems:
1. Knock Sensor Change if you feel really Slugish at the 3K RPM range...on the low end.
2. Bad Coils would make your car feel "reallySick" like it has "phlem in its throat" type of throttle response.

bad coils?
How do you preform the test for checking for bad coils? Im having a multiple cylinder misfire and suspect the coils might be the source of the prolem since ive cleaned the TB, replaced sp's w/ ngk's, and replaced the fuel filter.
I followed the directions in the haynes to check the ohm's between terminal between 2 and 1 and 1 and 2 but when i checked the #2 to 1, there was no signal. When I checked the #1 and 2 terminals the ohm meter flashs a number and goes blank? When it says infinate ohms, how does the read out look on the meter??
