Service Engine Soon Light Is On

My service engine soon light came on. I cannot find that anywhere in the manual. Does anyone know what that means? My Fiance' seems to think it is merely a timer saying I need my routine service soon. What do you think? My car has about 77k miles on it.

Do you mean your check engine light? If so you can check it with an OBD II scanner. If you dont have one you can go to autozone and they will check it for you.

Is it located at the bottom right hand corner of the instrument panel? If so then yea we are talking about the same thing.

The error code I am getting is 0707 which is Rear Heated 02 Sensor

I called AutoZone to ask if they had the part. The guy said most likely it is the Catalytic Convertor and not the Rear Sensor (downstream)

My car has 77k miles on it and I always use 91 octane gas though recently my boyfriend has used 87 on it.. i dont know if that has affected it or not?

Well anyway.. the guy told me to take it to an emissions place and he said they can test it to see if the cat is bad..

What do u guys think? I need some advice.. and I need to able to drive my car!

I doubt it is the cat. get the sensor at www.oxygensensors.com cheapest place. Put it in your self, should take all of 15 minutes. All you need is a wrench and jack/jack stands. The rear o2 sensors go out all the time and cats hardly ever do.

OE, it should be right on top or next to the cat.

not quite. Actually, he means "service engine soon" light, which basically is the same as the "check engine" light. I think it says "service engine soon" on all Maximas, doesn't it?

I just ordered it through oxygensensors.com they were really nice! I called and they answered right away. I asked about the difference in parts. I got quick answers, and he even e-mailed me a diagram the location where it needs to be changed. I also got free priority shipping. I am really happy I will let you know how it goes.

On 97+ Nissan vehicles, it is a 'service engine soon' light. On older vehicles, there is a pic of a engine with 'check' in the middle.

Mine came on a long time ago!

I have 120K miles on my 97 MAX GLE. The check engine light goes on and off. The light was on the whole summer and just 2 weeks ago it went off. It isn't really annoying, and I remember I checked the code 2 years ago, but I was not able to find the meaning of the code so I just let it go.

Next time the lights goes on, I will check it again as there are more people who knows about them. I think it was 0707 too, but not sure
