Gas Smell when I turn the heater on

I could smell GAS when I turn my heater on, through the vent.
On 95 Maxima with 125K miles.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

fuel filter leak? Can you smell any gas when you sniff around under your hook in the filter area?
