For those with Tranny Temp. gauge please help
Hey guys, well i finally got my gauges in the mail and was planning to install them myself. I read the instructions on how to install the tranny temp gauge and it says to drill in the tranny pan. So I decided to take it to a performance shop to see if they can install it and they told me you cant install tranny temp gauges on latemodel maximas WTF. How did you guys install you tranny temp gauge? Do you have to drill any holes? Is the a write up on how to install aftermarket gauges? Thanks in advance.

i have a tranny temp. gauge installed. at first, i plugged the probe through a T on the return line, but it was leaking (entirely my fault), but then Jeff @ maximumtuning put it in the tranny pan, as i watched. so, yes, it can be done. not a big deal.

i also had Jeff at Maximum Tuning put a tranny temp guage in my maxima. He drilled it into the tranny pan. I would take a pic of it for you, but there is about 6 inches of snow around my car right now.
It can be done though.

For the tranny temp? You mean the blue temp manifold? You can get that from auto meter. The rest of the fittings I got at homedepot.

What black casing? The blue manifold is inline where the tranny line goes to the OEM tranny cooler.

EDIT: let me understand this how u did it form what i can see. the probe is screwed into that HKS T fitting then probe is grounded via lower wire and signal wire is on top going to gauge..

The black pipe is for the water temp gauge. It's located on the upper radiator hose. Yes, the lower wire is the ground and the upper wire is to the signal wire to the gauge.

For more accurate reading, I choose the line before it gets to the inline tranny cooler. In other words, it's the output line from the tranny. This is the line that will be hotter of the two when you feel it with your hands. Or you can disconnect both hoses and the one with ATF shooting out is the one. The ground for the manifold was to a bolt that was near by.
