Potential Problem with Car Running In Snow?

I just started up my car it's buried under a lot of snow, and I heard whine like sounds coming from the belts, nothing loud but it's audible. Sounds like water is getting into the belts or something, you know like after you wash a car and water accidently gets by the belts and you start it up its like a really loud whine. Well that's what it sounds like just that the whine isn't as loud and it's consistently making that sound.

I don't see how water would damage the belts. Maybe the pulleys. I sometimes spray WD40 or some lubricant on the belts when they make noises...

Yea I disagree with you...you dont spray lubricant on belts. They have a special belt dressing. And by the way, don't tell me how to post...if I want to post smilies, I will and you can't do anything about that

I read that WD-40 was not technically a lubricant, although used like it is.
It was intended to be a corrosion preventive.
The name WD-40 stands for "Water Displacement, 40th attempt".
Take water out and it prevents corrosion.
It think I read it at howstuffworks.com

Just thought I'd share.
