Is it worth it to wrap the Y-Pipe?

I just ordered my Budget Y-Pipe and now im wondering if it's worth it to wrap the pipe with header wrap before i install it. i've heard that the budget pipes hiss sometimes and to stop it people have wraped it. just checkin to get an overall opinion on the subject.

thanks,
Matt

I've been contemplating wrapping my flex as well, not sure about rust though since I'm up north and encounter salt all the time

wrapping the flex section will help reduce some of the raspy noise or "bees in the can" sound that some complain about. Although I have not heard about any companies y-pipe making that noise in a while.

If your talking about wrapping the y-pipe for performance purposes, eg; keeping the exhaust temps high to inrease velocity then that is different. I have never wrapped my exhaust, but general info on the subject says it helps a little. If you don't mind taking the time to do it then go for it. I have also heard that heater wrap will may contribute to premature rusting.

My budget hisses. It doesnt bother me enough to spend the time and $$ to wrap it.

BUT, if you havent already installed it, go ahead and do the flex at least. Although you have to buy the wrap in whole rolls, and that's enough to wrap the whole pipe, so why not?

Wrap up that Ypipe! it wont hurt. If anything it should help because it keeps all that heat from your oil pan. Makes sense does it not?

This might be a good read for those thinking of wrapping:
