Welp as I posted yesterday, I have COMPLETELY lost reverse on my car, there is no reverse at all I am wondering how much it is going to cost to purchase a new/refurb tranny and how much is the labor going to be to have it installed? Also, how much would a tranny rebuild cost.

Oh yeah, while everything is open I want to put a "Transgo" kit in and a tranny cooler. Where can I purchase a transgo shift kit for it?

Thanks!

The average price for a relatively low-mile, used auto tranny is ~$800-1000. Check out http://www.car-part.com and http://www.woodfins.com for more info. The average prices I've found for removing and reinstalling a manual transmission was ~$400. There's little added complexity with R&Ring an auto tranny, so I'd suspect similar labor costs.

I would hesitate to just yank out my old tranny, however, until I've had an experienced automatic transmission mechanic look at it, though, especially if you've only lost reverse but everything else seems okay.

Check out http://www.cattman.com

They have the price on the new Quaife LSD Tranny on their site. I don't think it's available till later this year. I may be wrong though.

the Quaife unit is LSD for manual transmissions and it doesnt come with the tranny itself.

The labor rate for R&R auto tranny if i recall correctly was 7.1 hrs.

I got my TransGo kit from the Transmission Exchange Co., 1.800.776.1191 out of Portland, OR. FWIW, they also sell rebuilt trannys, although freight may be prohibitive. I've seen a/t's on Ebay for $400 but can't testify to their quality.

Keep us posted on your progress.
