Pictures of the new car

I'm sorta new to both the forum and Maximas. My mother has a 96 Maxima GLE and I registered on the forum to get info on brake changes and ECU diognostic codes and whatnot. I previously had a 1G AWD DSM. Fully built, the thing was ***** to the walls fast. I got tired of it though and just wanted something peppy and luxurious. A friend of mine owns a used car dealership and found me a 97 Max SE, 5spd, leather, bose, the works with 124k on it. Walked out the door with it for $5600. The thing is perfect, perfect exterior, perfect interior, motor is spotless. I'd have more pictures but my digi cam batteries were dead when I picked the car up. Here are the two my buddy snapped:

More pictures to come after I clean her off from all the crappy snow CT got hit with.

I don't think a kit is the first thing he should buy. Rims and body kits are probably the last things you should buy for a car. Get the cheaper more essential things first. Having a body kit on a stock car is just dumb...

Wow! That is mint. Keep it that way. Slowly work your way up to a built car. I think y-pipe, Intake, Exhaust, DC Clears and Tint are a must. That is exactly what I would take if I could switch. So perfect. Black on black with 5 spd is awesome.

To be honest with you guys, I like it being a quiet ride. Having a 3" turbo back with no cat on my DSM started to get a little annoying. And body kits are not going on this car. Factory lines are way too nice to mess with in my opinion. Clear corners are even something I'm still debating about. Honestly my plans for the car are very modest: intake, suspension, and MAYBE a 75 shot. This is going to be my car after college (I'm a junior right now) as well and driving into a professional marketplace with an exhaust is one of the reasons I sold the DSM. But thanks for the compliments!

Very nice car, congrats!

I think you should consider clears, Y pipe and intake if you want a subtler car, the Y doesn't really increase the noise, slight buzzing sometimes, but that can be fixed so it buzzes no more by wrapping the flex section. Have fun!

I hear the black/black 5 speed SE is kind of rare. Is there any truth to that?

Seen the kit.. meh.. doesn't do anything for me. You're talking to a guy who owned a DSM. DSMers don't really give a damn about looks.

BUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Ok, anyway formz... you're absolutely right, I wouldn't be getting any majors mods on this car if I were you considering that 1) you are a college student 2) the car has over 120k miles so let's be realistic here... and 3) SE is an SE - it is quite sporty to begin with.

I am also in college so I know what it's like, unless of course you have a **** of load $$ of spend, but I know you don't cause tuition is expensive these days. Besides, if you had lots of $$ you wouldn't be driving a Maxima, right - Right!

So, do what I did - basic upgrades such as tints, clears, custom shift level/**** (stock is way too long and looks gay IMO), FSTB (which does almost nothing, but anyway...), and maybe an intake/y-pipe combo, which I don't have myself as of today, approximately 1 year after I bought my 99 SuperBlack SE-L 5-spd with 29k (today 59k) miles. Just my $.02

Good luck!

The NE is THE fastest growing area of the US for maximas. damn.
formz consider coming to the meet in manchester CT on the 21st of december. There should be 30+ maximas!

nice car. def get the dc clears tho. car looks nicer from the front, could even say cleaner. btw: my car is a 98 se also, and its pebble beige with black leather interior and black dash trim and such. i was told that my car is rare because that was not a spacific option. any truth to that....

Where in manchester is the meet? I'm just gonna end up showing up in my bone stock maxima but if I'm free (which I should be) I'll come down.

Nah I sold the DSM to get the maxima. Here's some info about the car when I had it: http://formztsi.tripod.com/

It's not a 100% accurate mods list but it gives you an idea of what the car was like.
