Is there any way in the world a KA Powered S14...
with only "intake and exhaust" would run dead nuts with my 97 SE 5 speed? the 97 dyno'd at 181whp and 180tq. I got a good launch, I didnt want to do it too hard, just a little spin. I shifted as fast as humanly possible from 1-2-3-4 I mean like a pro, just tapped the clutch and threw it in gear, you couldnt even feel it shift, but he was still with me from 0-120mph. I caught him at the light and said "what do you have? SR?" He said "No it is stock" then the light went green we were at it again. Next light I ask again. He replies "just intake and exhaust" I say "no headers? thats it?" he said "yeah" he had some nice bronze volks so I say "You spent 2k on wheels and you have the stock motor?" he said "3k on wheels and yes, it is the stock motor, I am not doing anything, cause I am saving for the SR" He had Bomex, HKS, and several other stickers on it. I do not believe it, cause a stock KA is what? 150hp? so maybe he is getting 120whp? with intake and exhaust maybe 130-140whp, weighing probably near the same, I did have my speaker box, and around 200-250lbs of extra weight, but man...wtf???
I believe I ran this guy nearly a year ago in my 3rd gen, I pulled around 1 car and could remember saying WTF. Now he seemed even faster, with HID's and the works.

Burgundy S14 240sx
slammed:
Actually I shifted so great, the only thing I think I could of done differently was a harder launch and not had the extra weight.
He had to of been squeezing. I mean, Volks, HIDs. His engine had a different tone to it, like a gargly loud sound, I did not hear a BOV.

I say he was lying. I mean come on... who tells the truth after a race like that? A guy once asked me what I had done and I said just a stock AUTOMATIC. I meant to say stock motor, automatic with bolt ons. But it was too late.
Still, a stock s14 5spd can run mid 16s stock. With intake and catback, I see him getting 16.3s MAYBE. You are MORE than a second faster than him. Simple as that, he wasn't telling the complete truth. If he swapped in a stock sr20det motor, then he would run around high 14s. Then maybe he would keep up. Don't sweat it man. Look at it this way, he was ****ed at himself that a grocery getter was hanging with his heavily modified s14.

Yeah he has to have something seriously done to that motor. My friend got a stick DOHC 240. It's all stock but even if he launches really good I still on him with my automatic like it was nothing. Definitely something major, I dough that it was an sr20det because you wouldn't hang with him, but a half stipped interior, maybe some cams free addons. Those volks with good tires prolly alow him to launch like a mothe****er too!!!

The S13 are a little quicker than the S14s. I have 3 S13s, well only two, I crashed one. I have run low 15s with LSD, exhaust, and fully adjustable suspension before the turbo. I believe he was telling the truth. My maxima has much more low end hp. At top end around 60-70mph it dies off and doesn't pull as hard. My 92' 240sx pulled much harder from 60-120 than my maxima.
